While Tesla has been the trailblazer in the EV segment, other companies have also joined the bandwagon. One such example is Volvo’s performance brand dubbed Polestar.

The Polestar 2 is the company’s first all-electric vehicle and this makes it a perfect competitor for the Tesla Model 3.
So here we see Polestar vs Tesla to understand how the EVs stand against each other.
Exterior
While the electric drivetrain of these two vehicles unites them somehow, the completely different exterior looks separate their worlds apart.
Tesla Model 3 has a fresh yet subtle design language. However, the brawny looks of the Polestar 2 are more likely to turn more heads.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the headlights of the Polestar 2 which give the vehicle a highly modern look.

Interior
The interior of the Tesla Model 3 feels much more plush and contemporary than the Polestar 2.
It is also worth noting that the Polestar 2’s interior is more nature friendly and that explains why it doesn’t feel as luxurious and pleasing to touch as that on the Model 3.
Infotainment System
While Model 3 has the famous Tesla infotainment system, Polestar 2 takes an entirely new approach to the centre screen by offering an Android infotainment system.
This means that the display on the Polestar 2 is more user friendly and allows users to download Android Apps straight from the Google PlayStore.

Performance
Here is how Polestar vs Tesla stack against each other in terms of performance:
-
Acceleration
Performance is where Tesla Model 3 has been killing it. The top model can accelerate from 0 to 97 kph in just 3.1 seconds.
However, the Polestar 2 takes 4.7 seconds to do so. This is fairly reasonable acceleration but still not on the level of the Model 3.
-
Range
The range is the main pain point of the electric vehicle segment. That’s why it has always received so much importance.
The Model 3 is the clear winner in this segment as it features a range of around 580 km whereas the Polestar 2 is limited to just 480 km.
So, if you are looking for the vehicle with a higher range, you have your answer right away about which EV you should get out of these two.
-
Top Speed
The Model 3 has a top speed of 233 kph which is pretty impressive. However, the Polestar 2 will finally be able to catch it, despite its relatively slow start.
That’s because the top speed of the Polestar 2 caps at an impressive figure of 250 kph.
Storage Space
Storage space wise, the Model 3 offers more to owners. The Model 3 has a cargo space of 425 litres whereas that in the Polestar 2 is limited to 405 litres.

Charging Speed
If you wish to use your EV regularly, knowing which one charges faster is a good idea because then you will be able to select the vehicle that meets your requirements perfectly.
The Tesla Model 3 charges at 163 kW which means that it reaches up to the 80% mark within 24 minutes.
On the contrary, the Polestar 2 has a slower charger with a peak value of 105 kW and thus it needs 31 minutes to reach the 80% charging mark.

Author’s Take
I’d go for a Model 3 over a Polestar 2 any day of the week in a Polestar vs Tesla battle. The prime reasons include Tesla’s:
- Widespread charging network;
- Brand recognition;
- Futuristic approach;
- Plush interior;
- More range and quicker acceleration.
These are some of the most vital considerations while purchasing a vehicle and as the Tesla Model 3 ticks all the boxes, it leaves little to no room for any other EV in this range.
This is what all Tesla Model 3 reviews say. Rather it’s surprising that even no Polestar 2 review will be complete without a mention of the former.
This speaks highly of the level to which the Model 3 has been able to set itself up as the vehicle of choice for most EV lovers around the globe.
