When it comes to innovation, Mercedes-Benz is always at the frontline of the automotive world. As a result, it stands to reason that the company is also a market leader in the EV segment. Here we review the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ sedan and see how well the company has done while shifting over from the ICE world to the EV domain.

Exterior Design Is Bland & Distasteful
The first thing you see about the vehicle is its exterior design and well I won’t lie, the EQS sedan is anything but pretty.
I mean it is the EV counterpart of the Mercedes-Benz S class and a direct competitor of the Tesla Model S, both of which are great vehicles. That’s why it has to be equally imposing and eye-catching, but that’s exactly what it isn’t.
Its roundish design makes it even unappealing to some people. But looks are a subjective matter. So, let’s more forward to the next segment.
Huge Wheelbase
The Mercedes EQS is a luxury electric vehicle and thus it has to offer ample legroom to passengers. That’s why the vehicle measures around 5 meters in length.
Extreme Agility
It’s a huge vehicle and thus driving it in the city would be nightmare. Right?
Well, this isn’t the case thanks to some clever engineering by Mercedes engineers who have put an up to 10 degree rear wheel steering on the EQS 450+. This makes it nimble and feels easy to turn even on small city streets.
An Extremely Smart Suspension System
The vehicle’s air suspension means that passengers don’t get to feel the road bumps.
What makes the system particularly impressive is that each Mercedes EQS vehicle continues to share information about its suspension with other EQS vehicles in the vicinity.
This means that if your vehicle detects a location where its suspension needs to be changed, it will also communicate this information to other EQS models nearby so that they can also provide optimal levels of luxury to their passengers.
Battery & Range
The vehicle boasts an impressive range of around 780 km which makes it one of the best vehicles in the EV segment when it comes to range.
This is possible because of the mammoth 107.8 kWh battery which although makes the vehicle super heavy but also gives it exactly what it wants, extremely imposing range.

Performance
Electric vehicles are known for their instant torque and jaw dropping acceleration. While the 450+ is the smaller of the EQS range of vehicles in terms of power, it still has some impressive numbers to throw at you.
The vehicle does 0 to 100 kph in just 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of around 210 kph.
Interior
No review of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ can be complete without discussing its interior. Afterall, it’s a comparable vehicle to the S class and thus offers same levels of comfort with even more imposing technological marvels.
If you are looking for words to describe the interior of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+, they are plush, quiet and striking.
The front end has three huge and bright screens. The two side displays are 31 cm each.

One of these screens is the instrument cluster whereas the one on the passenger side offers MBUX using which passengers can perform a wide array of tasks.
The center screen is the infotainment system which is bright and vivid. It measures 45 cm and offers a huge playing field to those who are interested in this type of stuff.
Pricing
The Mercedes Benz EQS+ costs over €100,000 (£85,180) which is a lot of money but then you get a lot of vehicle for this price.
Final Verdict
Whether you like the exterior looks or not, the EQS 450+ sedan has got the performance and comfort as well as extremely comfortable ride quality.
Thus it is a great vehicle overall. However, we would once again say that Mercedes could have done a better job at making the EQS a prettier vehicle than this.
